The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of SAFETY Act Implementation has granted SAFETY Act Certification to FirstLine Transportation Security for its airport security screening operation. The “Support Anti-Terrorism by Fostering Effective Technologies Act” (SAFETY Act) Certification expands FirstLine’s Designation, first awarded in 2005, as a provider of anti-terrorism technology and its airport security screening operation as a qualified anti-terrorism technology. FirstLine was the first provider of airport security screening operations to receive SAFETY Act Designation which affords significant liability protections to FirstLine, its customers, sub-contractors and beneficiaries, including all airports where it operates. Certification provides the added liability protection of the government as contractor defense at Kansas City where FirstLine has its largest operation.
“We are proud that we were the first company under the TSA’s Screening Partnership Program to receive SAFETY Act Designation in 2005 and we are now gratified that Certification has also been extended,” said Stephen Metzler, FirstLine’s Vice President of Operations. “This is further evidence of FirstLine’s commitment to the highest levels of customer-focused security. Certification is high praise to our security staff and provides yet additional layers of liability protection to our airport partners.”
Awarding Designation and Certification required a rigorous review of FirstLine’s performance, conducted by several federal offices and represents a significant recognition of FirstLine’s level of security and service.
